This stout-built grey broodmare, brings generations of dependable ranch and cow horse bloodlines to the table, as well as good looks, great mothering instinct, brains and trainability. She is an own daughter of Mr Illuminator, son of the respected Dick Badger, whose line traces back to the great Grey Badger II, well known throughout the West for producing hardy, versatile horses with grit, stamina, and cow sense. Mr Illuminator is also the direct sire of the famous PRCA/WPRA barrel horse, TR Dashing Badger “Dolly,” ridden by Jill Moody to amass over $850,000 LTE.
On the dam side, “Gem” carries the influence of Poco Bueno Image and Tomichi’s Drifter, adding substance, disposition, and practical ranch horse ability. This mare represents the kind of old-style Quarter Horse breeding valued for confirmation, soundness, and maternal power. She is a strong addition to any breeding program focused on ranch horses, rope prospects, barrel racing, or dependable all-around performance stock. Gem has been in our program since 2019. She produces personable, willing offspring that are easy to start and can go in any direction.
Broodmares with this kind of cow-bred, foundation-oriented pedigree are becoming harder to find, especially with the color, bone, speed and proven maternal lines this mare provides.
